THE CITY ASSISTANCE FUND IN THE YAROSLAVL 1000-YEAR ANNIVERSARY PREPARATION

The Yaroslavl Municipality has created the City Assistance Fund in the Yaroslavl 1000-year Anniversary Preparation on December 28, 2005. Its main goal is to attract off-budget recourses in the form of voluntary donations. The fund guardian council developing strategic working directions of the fund and recourses expenses priorities consists of representatives of business, scientific and cultural communities of the city.

One of directions in the fund activity is promotion among enterprises and private persons of assumptions concerning anniversary of the city, which means their participation in anniversary preparation events by gratuitous assignments of financial recourses, works, goods or services. Currently about 400 anniversary obligations are already taken. More than 10 million Rubles have been transferred to the Fund accounts.

The other source of funds arrival is income from own commercial activity of the fund: commercial use of the official emblem-symbol of the 1000-year anniversary of Yaroslavl, release and sale of printed matter and souvenirs. The fund has concluded agreements for production of printed and souvenir matter, issue of local lore literature. In the immediate future the fund plans to issue local lore literature for children of preschool and school age.

The City Assistance Fund in the Yaroslavl 1000-year Anniversary Preparation will allocate all collected means to socially important issues: construction of socially significant objects, restoration and reconstruction of historical and cultural monuments, organization and holding of conferences, seminars, exhibitions, presentations, contests, excursions and other entertaining and cultural events, important for Yaroslavl development.

In 2006-2008 the collected means will be allocated for establishment of a zoo, a church of the Holy Hierarch Tikhon in Dzerzhinskiy District, a cultural and educational center named after the first woman-cosmonaut Valentina Tereshkova, the Yaroslavl 1000-year Anniversary Monument.
